This fast-track, 1 year diploma course gives musicians and performers the qualifications to access higher education and quickly develop their skills in composition, songwriting, performance. It has been specifically designed for learners over 19 years who would like to gain a solid grounding in all elements of music performance. You will explore, experiment and integrate a range of skills utilised as professional performers, focusing on music performance techniques, composition, using music technology in performance and build a foundation in fundamental studio recording techniques.
Over this one-year course you will learn the necessary skills to record and perform your own music and learn to use technology as an extension of your instrument. As well as taking part in individual practice programmes, group performing, masterclasses and tutorials. You will also dissect your current abilities, develop critical awareness of your skills gaps and prepare yourself for higher education degree courses, should you wish.
You will develop your listening skills and musical literacy, learning musical rhythm and metre, basic keyboard skills and performance. Experiencing many musical styles, you will be exposed to a multitude of techniques for performance, rehearsing and collaboration. You will get hands-on in our recording studios to expand your knowledge of both multi-track recording and implementing MIDI and sequencing as part of the process.

In addition, our Bristol centre is home to a large open plan live performance space which replicates a professional live music venue and provides a versatile environment for musicians to perform and rehearsal in. It is set up with a main stage with lighting, a range of PA equipment, desks and performance gear.

+ ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however; as it is a fast-track to HE option, but we would like applicants to display a standard of grade 4 and above for entry within their chosen discipline. You will be expected to attend an interview where you are recommended to perform or provided a portfolio of music examples so we can assess your suitability for the course. Finally, you should be able to display passion and enthusiasm for the subject.

If it is your 1st Level 3 qualification then the course will be free.
If you already have a Level 3 qualification you will need to apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the course fees.

The Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma is a full Level 3 qualification, and awarded by CAVA (Cambridge Access Validating Agency), licensed by the QAA and accepted by Higher Education Institutions.
