This course is a brand new technology based Live Sound degree combining the latest developments in audio networking, digital technology and the most advanced loudspeaker systems.
You will get hands-on with the latest equipment, gain real-world experience and networking at a multitude of live events, club nights and music festivals.
At dBs Music we'll elevate your listening skills and hone your professional practice, making you primed for a career in the industry.
Our exciting Live Sound degree is highly practical, gear heavy, packed full of industry connections/opportunities and will give you the skills needed to progress onto a successful career. We’ll teach you current mixing technologies, acoustics, modern speaker systems, analogue and digital live sound production, while elevating your listening skills and honing your professional practice.
This course has been designed to facilitate in-depth knowledge and practical application of the skills required to design, build and operate professional sound systems in a range of varied live event situations. You'll be using professional grade equipment from respected manufacturers such as Midas, Avid, Yamaha and Martin Audio and taught by tutors who are at the very top of the UK Live Sound industry. All practical elements of this course take place in our own specially designed teaching and performance space.

All practical elements of this course take place in our own venue, which operates as a commercial venue with a wide range of acts during the evenings and at weekends. Students have the opportunity to gain work experience on a volunteer basis every week.
Our 400 capacity venue is equipped with professional grade equipment from respected manufacturers such as Midas, AVID, Martin Audio, and Allen & Heath.

REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE
In addition to our commercial venue, throughout this BA (Hons) degree in Live Sound, there are multiple real world opportunities.
Every year dBs Music is involved in Glastonbury, Looe Festival, Knee Deep, Sidmouth Folk Festival, Dart Music Festival, Boardmasters, Freedom Fields, among many other major events have even put huge line array speaker systems into legendary venues like the Plymouth Pavilions and visits to the Royal Albert Hall.

The live sound industry accounts for over 40% of the annual sound and music sector income - there is a huge demand for skilled and experienced professionals in this area. There are a variety of roles within the live Sound industry that this course could prepare you for. + ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
UCAS Points: 112 Points from:
- Level 3 Diplomas
- Or an equivelent qualification

UK Applicants must have GCSE English Language & Maths at C or above, or an equivalent qualfication such as Functional Skills Level 2.
Applicants who do not have English as their first language must have:
IELTS, minimum of 6.0 in each category (within the last 2 years) or an equivalent qualification.
+ COURSE FEES & STUDENT FINANCE
The tuition fees for the 2017/2018 academic year:
UK and EU full-time fees: £9,000 per year
Students on this course are also official students of the University of St Mark & St John, our validating university, and can apply to Student Finance for a tuition fee loan to cover the full cost of your course. There are also loans available to help you cover living costs too.
