OVERVIEW

Here at dBs Music, we are always striving to be out of the ordinary, providing our students with something special and unique. One of the newest additions to our range of advanced level degrees this course is truly groundbreaking and the first of its kind in the UK; a brand new, state-of-the-art games sound design course created to meet the demand of the rapidly expanding multi-billion pound games and apps industry.

Gone are the days when game sounds were only beeps and tones (think Pac Man circa 1980), game audio has grown to be a genre in its own right, on par with movie and TV soundtracks – in fact, since 2010 the Ivor Novello awards have included a category for best original video game score.

Meet one of the core tutors here.

HANDS ON - THE BEST GEAR

Based at our brand new media facility in the heart of Bristol, boasting 10 fully equipped studios, Live room, Foley studio, Surround Sound suite and a Lecture Theatre with HD Projector, 5:1 Genelec Surround Sound and PS4.  Whether it’s our classic mixing desks, the very latest software plug-ins or our mountain of hardware, you are guaranteed to get your hands on practical experience on the very best industry standard gear. Our Bristol HE Centre is the only education facility in the UK to house an API 1608 Recording Console - this means that our students are the only UK students that can qualify for the API Visionary Scholarship Program.

The best thing about this course is the emphasis on putting us on the forefront of new developments in software, industry trends etc.
