What is a memorable musical memory from your childhood?

Playing piano with my mum.

What was your most embarrassing music-related moment? 

Getting confused with modern technology using CDJs (when they'd just come out) and decks and taking the needle off a record that was playing during a gig is probably up there...

What three albums would you take to a desert island (and those you'd really take, not those that'll impress the readers!)? 

Miles Davis - A Kind of Blue;
Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride ll;
Leftfield - Leftism.

Annie Di Franco - To the Teeth.

Vinyl please!! (Sorry, can't pick 3 from those!).

What would your super power be? 

Special Hearing Powers (extra freq. and dynamic range).

What pop legend would you dress up as for a party? 

Jimmy Nail (obviously).

Music software, what's your weapon of choice? 

Pro Tools.

What's your fave piece of music tech hardware?

Akai MPC2000XL or Roland SH101.

What are you most proud of? 

Studio Builds in various places and living, studying and then working in a foreign country for a good part of my adult life.


What are your three favourite music tech techniques? 

  • Distortion.
  • Parallel Compression.
  • Ducking reverbs and delays.

What is your favourite thing about dBs? 

Good vibes in a workplace with a bunch of knowledgeable and passionate people.

If you could go back in time, where would you go? 

Big Bang. Or just 20 years to tell myself to stick with Physics!

What single thing would improve the quality of your life?

More sun!
