Do you want to work in the live events industry? This specialist course provides you with technical skills needed to design and operate audio systems for live sound as well as the teaching you the practical and commercial application of running music events.
This unique course, designed for learners over 19, will train you in the technical skills needed to start a career in the live events industry. You'll focus on sound system design and operation, audio mixing and dynamic processing. It doesn't stop there, however, as you will also learn all the aspects of stage management and event organisation, incorporating production projects with other dBs Music students within the vibrant live music scene in Bristol. Working in partnership with Bristol's venues and festivals will form a key part of your qualification and experience during your studies.
On this course, you will work on projects related to professional briefs that prepare you for both undergraduate studies at university and industry placements and employment. You'll gain an understanding of the legalities and business models related a live music production is integral to all aspects of events management from the live sound technician, through to the marketing and promotion team.
This course also provides the perfect progression route on to our BA (Hons) Live Sound degree.

From Mac labs full of the latest music making software during lesson time to MIDI controllers, DJ booths, studios and rehearsal rooms - we are fully kitted out and ready to go whatever course you choose to study! Unique to this course is our dedicated performance and live sound space, Electro-Voice loudspeakers, Allan & Heath Analogue and Digital Consoles, DBX, Lexicon and TC electronics outboard processors.

+ ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Pre-Degree 19 yrs + Access to HE Diploma
There are no formal entry requirements for the Access to HE Diploma, however; as it is a fast-track to Higher Education option, we do require that you have some experience in music, either as a musician, a producer, a DJ, etc. and be able to cope with the academic level of the course (level 3).
If you do not already hold GCSE English at grade C or 4/Functional Skills Level 2 then you will be required to complete this while completing your Access course. In order to achieve this, you must be able to work at the appropriate academic level, which will be assessed at interview.

We also offer introductory short courses aimed at providing you with a foundation in music production, which could provide you with the right level of experience to be accepted

If it is your 1st Level 3 qualification then the course will be free.
If you already have a Level 3 qualification you will need to apply for an Advanced Learning Loan or pay the course fees.

Student Finance England will ‘write off’ any outstanding Advanced Learner Loan balances you owe for an Access to HE course once you complete a higher education course. This means you do not have to repay it.

+ QUALIFICATION DETAILS
The Access to Higher Education (HE) Diploma is a full Level 3 qualification, and awarded by CAVA (Cambridge Access Validating Agency), licensed by the QAA and accepted by Higher Education Institutions for Univeristy entry.
Our Pre-Degree Diploma courses are run in partnership with Cornwall College.
